Brutal depiction of a world unknown.
A complex concept and it requires a craftsman of Bala’s accomplishment and persistence to execute it. Technically speaking the movie is high on production values. The images have been captured well. Ilayaraja’s music surprisingly doesn’t make one sit up and take notice, mostly because it is gelled neatly into the narrative. Dialogues by Jayamohan are few but very crisp. Summing up, Naan Kadavul is not a movie that everyone can digest. Don’t’ expect a regular entertainer, be prepared to get jolted.(more)

God in all grandeur.
Call it breath-taking, stunning or out-of-the-world. Any amount of appreciation would fit well for this film. Technically rich visuals, soul-stirring songs and splendid re-recording apart from top-notch performances by the artistes make 'Naan Kadavul'. Bala has come out with a movie that is strikingly different from the rest, certainly several notches above the rest. In one word, Naan Kadavul is a movie to cherish and celebrate.(more)

Outstanding.
The film touches your soul and makes you salute the brave director for making this authentic milestone classic. It is a technical splendor embellished with breathtaking visuals, brilliant music score by the maestro Ilayaraja and award winning performances by Arya, Pooja and the entire cast. The way the film has been made and packaged is slick and it moves like an edge of the seat thriller and is racy and to the point at 2 hours and 15 minutes.(more)

Reality hits you hard.
It’s hard-hitting, disturbing … and real! Even those who boast of being bold enough to enjoy sordid crime thrillers and supernatural spine chillers on screen could find the starkness of ‘Naan Kadavul', a little too much to stomach. Bala proves once again that he’s a director who thinks differently. (more)

Unforgettable experience.
Arya has done a superb job. Pooja's great talent was also beautifully executed. Naan Kadavul is full of Bala’s signature style of movie-making. The flow of the movie is as weird as the concept and story, edited ably by Suresh Urs. The colors of the visuals, thanks to cinematographer Arthur Wilson, are as real as they can get. The music by Maestro Ilayaraja is typically melodious and melancholy. And the overall movie experience, unforgettable. (more)
