A roly-poly, rugged looking Ajit is quite at home in stunts and romance but looks completely uncomfortable in the scenes that reek of sentiment. Sreeman leaves a strong imprint. Suresh Gopi manages to look menacing, but there is no strong screenplay to back him. Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs lack the so-essential melodic appeal. All the same, one cannot but feel that brutality in "Dheena'' could have been less blatant. (more)

Not bad, can do better.

Action and dialogues are the keys to making it work -- and both departments deserve praise. The fight sequences are meticulously choreographed, while the dialogues are, when needed, razor-sharp. Yuvan Shankar Raja comes up with another potential hit. The songs are all appealing. Overall, the film is briskly paced, and holds your interest throughout. What prompts the 'Can do better' report are the little, but eminently avoidable, niggles. (more)
