Real life on celluloid.
Onbathu Rupai Nottu, is an adaptation of his own novel with the same title. Thankar Bachachan is one of the rare filmmakers in Tamil industry, who believe in story rather than stars or fanfare. He has chosen a strong story and selected the cast accordingly. His handling of the stars and execution of the scenes are praiseworthy. Onbathu Rubai Note has many poignant moments. (more)

Onbathu Roopai Nottu - Poignant.
The performance of the bald veteran (Sathyaraj) is so natural that it squeezes out an odd tear from the eyelids of the audience. Onbathu Roopai Notu is simple and clean cinema. The editing deserves a special word of praise. Thankar Bachan has shown that he can present a good movie with his limited talent. In all, Onbathu Roopai Nottu Â…certainly should be seen by all those who have a liking for sad tales. (more)

Must watch for serious movie lovers!
A strong support to the film comes in the form of Kavi Perarasu Vairamuthu's lyrics which have been aptly supported by Bharathwaj's music. Art director and Editor have done their role with perfect elan. On the flip side, the second half of the film could have been a bit faster in terms of narration. Onbadhu Roobai Nottu is sure to find favors among true movie buffs and would entice great circulation especially among people who love films as passionately as any art form. (more)
