Abhiyum Naanum – sparkles in bits and pieces.
Towards the end, Abhiyum Naanum becomes almost close to an ordeal and is a test of patience. Director could have worked towards a tauter script. Debutant Ganesh Ram looks fine but does not have much scope for performance. Vidysagar's music is very ordinary. Camera work is noteworthy. Film is likely to suffer commercially.(more)

Abhiyum Naanum is poignant.
Obviously, it's Radha Mohan's script that's a winner. It might be a much-maligned subject, but his relevant dialogues, subtle and pertinent characterization and apt casting have transformed a rather mundane movie into a feel-good, emotionally satisfying fare. For Prakashraj, the role's a cakewalk. The camera work is glorious, able to present the characters without any unnecessary effects which might spoil the show. Definitely worth a watch. (more)

Big daddy and his beautiful daughter.
The USP of Abhiyum Nanum is the manner in which it is narrated. Radha Mohan and his team, has dealt a serious topic in a hilarious way, thereby reaching out immediately to the viewer. He has consciously avoided the drama elements and the artistes underplay their roles to deliver their best. But the real scene-stealer is Trisha. Vidyasagar's music is good. Abhiyum Nanum stands out for it is a quality entertainer which can be watched by the whole family.(more)

Watch it for its natural treatment.
The Duet Movies-Radha Mohan combo has never disappointed viewers — the trend continues. Don’t look for formula here. You won’t find any. Mohan has already proved that he doesn’t believe in contrived twists and turns. Nor does he promise unrealistic duets and dances. True-to-life stories with minimum deviations are his forte and commendably, he sticks to his promising pattern. (more)

Family Feel Good film.
The beauty of the film lies in the outstanding performance of Prakash Raj. Trisha has come out with her best ever performance, and is super tops. The film's fatal flaw is its packaging, which is not convincing and at time too preachy and drags big time post interval. Another major let down is the music of Vidayasagar. If only Radha Mohan had a tighter script, it would have been far more enjoyable. (more)

Ground-breaking experiment.
Prakashraj and Trisha are Abhiyum Naanum's strengths. While Prakashraj's performance stands out as a film connoisseur’s delight, Trisha's soft yet emotionally strong countenance is so natural. Radha Mohan has written the story and screenplay besides directing the film. His penchant for realistic characters and genuine relationships places him a notch above the majority in the field. Abhiyum Naanum is a ground-breaking experiment, a willing offering from producer Prakashraj and director Radha Mohan.(more)
