Lengthy love story.
Well technically, the movie is made with high values- Exceptional music, background score, re-recording, classy camera work, foreign locations, etc. All the technicians involved must receive that imperative appreciation for they have done their work with much finesse. Silambarasan has proved that he is an actor who will mould himself into any character that a story demands. Trisha has portrayed her character brilliantly. (more)

Dreamy love story in an unhurried pace!
An all new Silambarasan, with a complete make over steals the show. Trisha is lovely in Nalini Sriram's simple, relatable costumes. Directorial touches of Gautham Menon are abundant through out the film especially with the portrayal of his characters which are very real. The director once again proves that he is after all a master craftsman especially in matters of love. A R Rahman’s songs are the strong pillars to the film. (more)

A must watch.
Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya puts a new spin to the age old romantic tale. The best part about VTV is that it revolves around people, rather than events. The characters go through a whirlwind of emotions, laugh and cry, and take you along with them. As far as acting goes -- kudos to the director for the perfect casting. A R Rahman's soundtrack is very romantic. Manoj Paramahamsa's camerawork is sizzling. (more)

Kudos to Gautham.
Director Gautham Menon has once again given a different spin to a romance. Full marks to him, for revealing to us a classy Simbu and for pulling off superb chemistry between him and Trisha. Rahman's background score are major boosts, as is Manoj Paramahamsa's shots. Dialogues often hit the bull's eye. On the downside, the early portions of the second half leaves you with a sense of déjà vu, and you wish Gautham had tightened the screenplay. (more)

Please watch it !
The movie has been beautifully shot. The camera angles, the expressions of the actors, the muted, Mani Ratnam-style of dialogue delivery, the finely choreographed fight sequences, the subtle ways of bringing out the personalities of the protagonists. Perfect. While I personally find the last parts of the movie a little lagging behind in pace and intrigue, I can't help but give full marks for technical efficiency of screenplay and editing. (more)

Pure Magic.
Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (VTV) is pure magic. This one works and grabs us where it matters; VTV is straight from the heart. The film is backed by awe inspiring performance and precisely one thing going for it and that’s the chemistry between its lead actors Silambarasan and Trisha, Manoj Paramahamsa's eye-catching frames, great screenplay. However, VTV is not devoid of minor flaws. It has too many songs which are experimental and are non-structured that act as speed breaker. (more)

Taste of candy floss.
The wizard of sophisticated romance is back, and how! As a story Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya says nothing new. But Gautam Vasudev Menon's treatment makes all the difference. Every frame spells class and every scene oozes realistic love not often seen in cinema. The make-over of the lead pair, their romantic interludes and enactment reveal that the two have come a long way. A.R. Rahman proves the past master that he is, once again. (more)
