The film would have surely done better had it been made ten years back.
What works against the movie is its lackluster pace. The entire film chugs in snail’s pace and that is bound to test the patience of the audience. The beginning of the second half picks up pace but drops immediately and falls into a lull. Adding to this, the predictable turn of events makes the film even slower and loses out on the engaging factor.(more)

Seedan lacks subtleties and nuances of the original.
If you like old-fashioned melodramatic family dramas with a message that true love will triumph against all odds, then it is your cup of tea.The film drags, even though it is only 2 hours and 8 minutes.(more)

Seedan is no match to the original.
Seedan emerges largely a half-baked production. Everything is trite, the dialogues mushy and sickly sweet; the emotions are over-drawn and characters simply too good to be true. Ananya does score with her simple good looks. Dhanush, on the other hand, has had a ball. The aura that surrounds him and his antics with Vivek raise the roof. Dhina's music barely stays in your memory. Srinivasan's camera-work is just adequate, while Ram Sudharsan's editing could have been better.(more)

Breezy entertainer.
Seedan is a breezy entertainer. With romance, comedy, sentiments and emotions at right mix, the film is worth a watch. Of course there are some speed breakers, but the ride is safe. Three cheers to Ananya who has played her part well. Vivek brings the roof down with laughter. And the real scene-stealer is Dhanush. He is witty and humorous, he is there to entertain.(more)
