'Made In Korea' movie review: An earnest Priyanka Mohan shoulders a cursory Hallyu excursion

As the world continues to embrace the K-Wave, 'Made In Korea' starring Priyanka Mohan feels timely, but its wholesome premise could have benifitted from better execution.(more)

Made In Korea Movie Review: The kind of film you'd find at an airport bookstall

The Tamil-Korean cultural exchange angle is the film's entire personality, and it gets wearing. Shenba grafts Tamil lyrics onto K-pop. A street violinist plays a Tamil melody on the streets of Seoul. Jun Jae's band becomes a cross-cultural project. It all carries a travel-vlog earnestness that never shakes off its brochure quality. The drama piled onto Shenba doesn't help either. Illness, death, a landslide back home, all stacked one after the other as though someone brainstormed a few situations first and then worked out how to fit her into each one.(more)

Made in Korea review: A movie with genuine heart that cannot quite find its footing

The Netflix film has its heart in the right place, a charming lead in Priyanka Mohan, and a premise full of promise. But Made in Korea keeps playing it safe when it should have been brave enough to go deeper.(more)

OTT Review: Priyanka Mohan's Made in Korea - Telugu-Dubbed Tamil Film on Netflix

Priyanka Arul Mohan, who has often faced criticism for her expressions, delivers a pleasant surprise with a sincere performance. Veteran Korean actress Kim Young-ok, widely known as South Korea's 'National Grandma', appears as Omma in the film. The scenes between her and Priyanka Arul Mohan are particularly charming and add emotional depth to the narrative.(more)

Made in Korea Movie Review: Right parts, wrong assembly

The fact that Korea is not explored enough is a major drawback, as many other aspects leave us with a sense of dj vu. The arc of a naive and innocent woman with dreams in her eyes, being left to fend for herself in a foreign city, is something that Kangana Ranauts Queen has already done. The same films shadow looms large over Made in Korea when Shenba makes friends with the locals.(more)

Made in Korea review: Priyanka Mohan-Park Hye Jin's film is a heartfelt Indo-Korean tale of dreams and self-discovery

The writing of the characters could have more depth, and the plotline of the film was very predictable and basic. A few dialogues of the characters were not making sense at times, and also the sudden shifts in the film were not making a good connection to the story.(more)

Made in Korea review: A wasted opportunity

Made in Korea writer-director Ra Karthik doesnt delve into what exactly it is about South Korea that connects to the Tamilian. Beyond the disputed legend of a Korean queens Tamil roots, Karthik isnt curious about the specific aspects of the Hallyu wave that has engulfed the world, including India.(more)
