Quite a Dethroning Work!
Starts promisingly with brisk establishments for several layers of the narrative unfolding organically. But in a battle between the mission assigned versus the mission destined, neither wins due to a flat and uninteresting storytelling.(more)

If you enjoy action dramas rooted in emotional conflict, historical intrigue and mature storytelling, this one's worth your time.
The action in Kingdom is not over the top. Instead, it is functional and well-choreographed, mostly serving the emotional stakes of the story. The films strength lies in how the physical confrontations and conflicts are grounded in personal choices, with a maturity in the stagingwhether it is Suri or Shiva making a pivotal decision. Tinnanuris control over tone ensures that the story never veers into melodrama or spectacle for its own sake. Kingdom is not about flashy heroism or exaggerated showdowns. It is an action drama that finds strength in its emotional weight. It marks a return to form for Vijay Deverakonda, who finds the right balance between intensity and vulnerability. Its a well-crafted action drama with emotional integrity and visual flair. Nitpicking aside, Kingdom delivers an impactful cinematic experience.(more)

Vijay Deverakonda's film aims high, but settles for mediocrity
Kingdom is a film that's brilliant technically and performance-wise. Vijay Deverakonda does the heavy lifting. Though his expressions tend to get repetitive, he does his best to drag us along with him. The film's core plot lies in the brotherhood. While Deverakonda and Satyadev are perfect as brothers, their relationship looks too shallow. Their arc is so underexplored that you hardly feel happy about their reunion.(more)

Watchable action drama
Kingdom is a watchable action drama. Vijay Deverakondas composed performance adds weight, and the film benefits from decent visuals. Though the narrative takes its time and the emotional depth isnt fully explored, the film manages to stay afloat. It may not break new ground, but with modest expectations, Kingdom offers a passable and watchable experience.(more)

Vijay Devarakonda bleeds and broods in this emotionally distant epic
In Kingdoms case, the opportunity to craft a profound tale is squandered as it fails to fully engage with real-world politics (in fact, it paints a murkier picture of the human subjugations seen today or in past), or explore the aspect of human desire and morality; an epic isnt just a spectacle after all, but also a document of what it is to be human. Gowtam Tinnanuris film gestures at those explorations, but it doesnt commit to them, coming across as though it is unsure of the audiences intelligence. The result is a film with a beating heart, but still emotionally distant.(more)
