There is scope in the core conflict, sadly the film never captives on its strengths. The screenplay is messed up in every aspect with the never ending cringey comedy portions, tiring three heroine tracks, misfired horror and soulless emotional quotient. (more)

Prabhas Can't Save It
There is a criminal oversight in the writing that is barely legitimate to register the stakes of all the silly shenanigans indulged by the ensemble supporting cast. The glossy textures are not limited to the writing, but also extends to the broad, almost campy performances. (more)

A bizarre spectacle where the joke never lands
At its core, The Raja Saab hinges on a backstory from the younger years of the character played by Zarina Wahab. A glimpse of what Sanjay Dutt�s character is up to in this chapter carries the makings of genuinely unsettling horror. Yet the writing fails to mine this potential, offering neither sustained creepiness nor an emotionally engaging drama. (more)

There is nothing remotely majestic about The Raja Saab, a mangled horror fantasy that borders awkwardly on the comedic and is frequently in danger of making a laughing stock of itself. Matters are aggravated manifold by the film's inordinate length, which only serves to take it further and further away from where it should have ended up.(more)

Director Maruthi�s ambition to present the story on a grand scale was evident from the promotional material and raised expectations. However, the execution does not live up to the promise. What appears compelling on paper falters on screen due to weak writing and inconsistent direction. (more)
