Too Many Deviations!

Starts and ends on a decent note. Underwhelming screenplay filled with irrelevant and long-drawn-out sequences drains out the interesting plot. Certain appealing ideas are wasted by weak storytelling.(more)

Diary, an interesting read till the last page

The emotional quotient in the climax sequence worked and answered all our questions with clarity. Arulnithi did a convincing job like every other cop roles he has starred in. His performance was effective enough to keep the audience engrossed throughout. Pavithra Marimuthu, who comes as Arulnithi's colleague and life partner has done a wonderful job. Nothing about her performance looks artificial and that's one of the satisfying aspect of the film. Ranjana Nachiyaar, Kishore Kumar and Jayaprakash also did a decent job.(more)

Interesting twists and turns make Diary a watchable thriller.

Ron Ethan Yohan's music is definitely a big pillar of strength for Diary, with regard to the BG score. The talented composer's pulsating score amplifies the overall impact of the scenes, keeping us hooked to the screens. Aravinnd Singh's cinematography is neat and the dark and eerie mood of the film is maintained throughout with interesting usage of colours. A major chunk of the film takes place inside a bus and Aravinnd plays well with the restricted surrounding. Due credits to the sound department as well, for the striking sound design work. However, the VFX looks tacky, especially in the accident portions, while the DI is also a letdown. (more)
