Bombastic Entertainer, But Brains Aside.

When every department of a film is firm to deliver something very passionate, this is what we get, an unique theatrical experience. The impact couldve been stronger if the various plot points of the script were more complicated rather than being basic.(more)

Tovino Thomas starrer offers a lot of fun and madness

Thallumaala offers a lot of fun and entertainment. Its a youthful movie with Tovino Thomas managing to look 10 years younger by achieving a slim physique. Lukman Avaran, Austin Dan and Adhri Joe are effortless. Shine Tom Chacko as Regi Mathew gets his fair share of screen-time as a man who knows whats right but is also convinced that there is no fun doing whats right.(more)

Thallumaala is an action entertainer with tasteful making and colorful frames.

Thallumaala is a through-and-through action entertainer with its share of humour, catchy tunes, adept stunt choreography, and decent performances. Expect the style quotient to hit the roof in this movie as you see Kalyanis Fathima and most of the other characters sport trendy and high-end clothes. With enough action sequences to enjoy with your popcorn as Fathima does in the movie, Thallumaala is a good choice for an entertaining time at theatres.(more)

Eminently enjoyable when not being self-indulgent

Thallumaala is not a film that requires one to do any emotional heavy-lifting. There is a scene in Thallumaala that best illustrates its philosophy. When Tovino's Wasim gets invited as a chief guest at an event, an 'intellectual' writer asks what eligibility the former has to be present at a place that usually entertains eminent personalities of great intellect. The crowd replies, "Because he entertains us!" That's Thallumaala in a nutshell. It just wants you to sit back and have a laugh while taking in all the fireworks, glitz, and glam. This is Khalid Rahman and his frequent collaborators proving that they can do big-scale spectacles too. It's Khalid's most entertaining film since Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.(more)
