Is All About Form And Is Quite Sharp In That Aspect!

Whether showcasing such brutality on screen is fine or not and could it be detrimental at large is something that the experts have to decide. But taken as a genre as such and considering the films intentions, Arun Matheswaran has successfully delivered what he was going for.(more)

Keerthy Suresh's film is an exquisitely shot crime thriller but romanticises violence

The brother-sister sentiment, the sub-plots involving children and caste-based discrimination are the aspects that add weightage to Saani Kaayidham, which otherwise feels very predictable most of the times.(more)

A HARD-HITTING BUT INDULGENT TALE OF VENGEANCE

It is ultimately the performances of Keerthi Suresh, who is terrific as the revenge-obsessed Ponni (the actor uses her lean frame and striking eyes to great effect), and Selvaraghavan, who superbly turns Sangayya into the film's beating heart, that hold the film aloft and prevent it from sinking into a mindless violent movie.(more)

Keerthy Suresh, Selvaraghavan excel in this straight-forward revenge drama

Saani Kaayidham is a solid revenge drama that achieves its humble aspirations. But there is unexplored potential to do more and you wish the film had taken that chance. Nevertheless, it makes Arun Maatheshwaran a name to look out for.(more)

Keerthy Suresh, Selvaraghavan are in supreme form in this solid revenge thriller

Saani Kaayidham is a neat revenge thriller which lacks depth in writing. If only Arun added more punch to the story, the film could have been flawless.(more)

ARUN MATHESWARAN'S 'SAANI KAAYIDHAM', ON AMAZON PRIME, IS A GORY REVENGE DRAMA WITH IMPECCABLE CRAFT, BUT THE WRITING NEEDED MUCH MORE MEAT

The film is filled with touches. For instance, as a man is being killed, we hear on a radio the passage from the Mahabharata about Duryodhana's death. One chapter title echoes Bharathiyar's "Pala vedikkai manithargal". But what's missing is the primal emotion of rage. We don't feel what the characters feel. They stay at a distance, and so does the film.(more)

Keerthy Suresh, Selvaraghavan shine in this unrestrained flow of savagery

The violence, torture and deaths, and a lot of deaths, form the core experience of Arun's movies. It is not something we are used to in Tamil cinema but something we may develop a taste for if we can manage to see the primal truth that provides Arun's characters with a superhuman capacity for brutality and violence.(more)

Extreme violence.

Saani Kaayidham is a gripping story of assault and revenge which whether you like it or not, may not come as redemption for those lakhs of women, young men and women who have been inappropriately touched, gestured at or sexually assaulted at some stage in their life and had to stay quiet, quit jobs or move cities and countries not wanting to come in terms to reality. Because rape is a crime that cannot be compensated for.(more)

Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghava's intense performances make Saani Kaayidham a deadly raw-revenge drama.

Overall, technically Saani Kaayidham is a masterpiece, but the writing could have been better. Director Arun Matheswaran again proves as one of the directors to look forward to as the potential he has is amazing. His films have his signature all over the frames and this one does too.(more)
