Moral lesson that works to an extent

While its setting might seem different for a Samuthirakani film, in terms of content, Vinodhaya Sitham is very much in the zone in which the director operates. It is in many ways a fable, and who better to narrate it than this filmmaker, who uses every opportunity to deliver a moral lesson. Here, he tries to convey the message that everything in life is predestined and we should live our days with humility and consideration for others. While he does what he has intended to, the film, while enjoyable for the most part, is also loud and literal. Despite the complex ideas on life, death, and parenting that it deals with, it remains a very surficial film, choosing to present its ideas in a very literal manner. Its views on destiny and free will is too simplistic.(more)

A feel-good fantasy drama

Samuthirakani, the director of the film has delivered a measured performance while the rest of the actors including Sriranjani, Sanchita Shetty, Jayaprakash, Munishkanth, and others have done a neat job. Though there are a few logical issues in all the good things that happen in Parasuram's life in the latter half, the sequences contribute to a feel-good watch. (more)

Vinodhaya Sitham engages well to an extent, and can be watched for the unique message it carries.

Overall, although the message of the film is new and something that has not been said before, the screenplay could have been much better. However, if you are a fan of Samuthirakani's brand of films, this will work for you, for the message it carries. The short run-time also helps the film engage you well. (more)
