A decent remake that lacks the flavour of the original

The overarching light-hearted tone of the film is quite refreshing and helps in softening the many gut-wrenching moments. In retrospect, it seems like the downsides of the film become apparent only to those who have seen the original. To those who go in without any preconceptions, C/O Kadhal will be a hopeful film on some bleak social issues.(more)

An overly faithful, largely effective remake

That film was remarkable for its casting of non-actors, whose raw performances made the proceedings seem quite real. Here, the cast includes actors who have been part of some films, and this includes a couple of them from the original film as well. The actors do their parts well, but the fact that they are somewhat familiar faces kind of takes away the sweet innocence that non-actors bring to their roles.(more)

A Translation That Slightly Misses The Original's Subtext

This is the sort of film for which quotes like "Love rules the world" are made. The tagline also says, "Love has no age." Indeed, indeed. The story follows four boys who belong to different age groups. Their experiences range from falling truly and madly in love with girls, who belong to different age groups (even different castes and religions), and learning to nurse their wounds when they don�t get the opportunity to savor the fruits of companionship.(more)

C/O Kadhal is a touching remake with many feel good moments, despite the leisured narration!

Remakes could be a safe and dicey bet too, depending on the language of the original and the audience taste of a different language. Debutant director Hemambar Jasti, having co-assisted a few big names in Telugu, sticks to the basics of retaining the content and polishing it with a sensible head, backed by the trusted names in the editorial department.
