Sagaa

Critics Review

2.74

Sagaa is a classic case of bad writing ruining a premise that has promise.

The director ends up trying too hard to inject some semblance of intensity with slow-motion shots and an overstuffed background score, but they are overkills. The young actors try their best, but it is never enough. Save for the classy visuals by cinematographer Niran Chander (the colour grading is top-notch) and a couple of hummable tunes from music director Shabir, Sagaa ends up as a frustrating watch.(more)

A promising revenge saga diluted by commercial compromises

Murugesh's treatment of Sagaa as a proper commercial film is what has failed him. While it is impressive that he doesn't hold back any punches because his actors play boys, and not men, they are also burdened with pointless romantic numbers, sacrificial side-kicks, too many slow-motion shots, hollow punch dialogues, and inconsequential heroines.(more)
