Sillu Karuppatti is a positive and sweet concoction of lovingly made stories. Do not miss this entertaining gem.

The film rarely deviates from its tonality. Even the sunlit, saturated colour palette (the cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa, Abhinandan Ramanujam, Vijay Kartik Kannan and Yamini Yagnamoorthy) stays true to that. Sillukkaruppatti is aptly cast and with top-notch performances. Samuthirakani surprises you with his charming act as the bumbling husband, while Manikandan ably portrays the vulnerability of Mukhilan. Sunainaa and Leela Samson deliver well-restrained performances. Sillu Karuppatti is a highly satisfying romance that leaves you with a smile.(more)

Lovingly crafted feel-good film

Through the four stories, Halitha tries to define what love means at different stages of our lives - during adolescence, it is unconditional and unrequited; as twenty-somethings, it is a mix of the physical and the emotional; during middle-age, it means intimacy while at the fag end of our lives, it stands for companionship. And she succeeds in style by giving us a feel-good film that leaves us smiling - and also feeling.(more)

A little gem not to be missed!

In the usual 'Samuthirakani' film, we would have seen him uttering long dialogues and lectures about the same issue but here things are subtle and he shines like a diamond. Sunainaa has delivered her career-best performance showcasing the psychological pain of a homemaker who doesn't get the due respect, recognition, and love in the mechanical life.(more)

Halitha Shameem's anthology is all about bittersweet love

Sillu Karupatti may be a film about love, but it is the humour that sets it apart from other films of the ilk. If you look past some crazy coincidences, this is a bittersweet film which will make you smile throughout reminding you to live the moment.(more)

Life is like a box of chocolates

Perhaps the movie is less about love and more about the bitter-sweetness of life, just like Sillu Karupatti (palm candy) like when Mugil says, "Odambu fulla kasapa irundhuchu, nee vara varaikum." If I were to nitpick issues at gunpoint, it would be for this: it is still an ideal world about ideal characters, reaffirming ideal principles. It is a world that we aspire for. But the weight of reality tells a different story, right?(more)

A sweet but not overly sweet film to end this year with

It could be compared to the latest Netflix series Modern Love - the idea isnt entirely new to us as an audience. In fact, we know how most of these stories play out. Sillu Karupatti, however, manages to keep us engaged with its smooth veering away from the cliche. (more)
