A Strong Performance From Aishwarya Rajesh Ensures That This Lengthy Drama Remains Reasonably Engrossing!
Ka Pae Ranasingam is an earnest film. It might be a bit melodramatic at times but is also restrained at times. Overall, the performances are pretty good. Aishwarya Rajesh leads the show as the single-minded crusader. She achieves a certain balance wherein the scene itself might be playing to the gallery, but she lets out her emotions in a certain meter and this ensures that this performance gets our respect. Vijay Sethupathy's role isn't exactly a cameo but you cannot call him the hero of the film as well.(more)

The film's biggest strength is undoubtedly Aishwarya Rajesh's intense performance as the determined and innocent Ariyanachi. She is a perfect choice, and needless to say, the actress is in top form and does complete justice to the character.(more)

The ending comes as a shock, though it shouldn't be so if one follows the news. The film begins with a note that says it's based on a true incident and just like Aramm, the first production from KJR Studios, this story too is a reminder that there are many Indias. Ka Pae Ranasingam has its heart in the right place and highlights several issues at once with memorable performances from Aishwarya Rajesh and Vijay Sethupathi.
Aishwarya carries the film on her shoulders. She is sprightly in the romance portion. Feisty otherwise, able to bring out the several moods of the character. As they say, what several men couldn't do, a single woman does. Nachi manages to do it...almost. (more)

Aishwarya Rajesh shines in a film that doesn't belong to her
Just a bunch of well-intended messages do not make for interesting cinema. There's also a lot of convenience in the writing (Ariyanachi magically finds someone to help in every city) and not enough inherent emotion. The perfunctory nature of the film's craft doesn't help either. Add sound consistencies and Zeeplex's bug-infested interface, and the entire experience becomes an exercise in patience for the viewer.(more)

Aishwarya Rajesh, Vijay Sethupathi's film is incisive commentary on state apathy
What makes Ka Pae Ranasingam work is its incisive view of the world around it. It does not present the world as good vs evil, poor vs rich, powerless vs powerful. Instead it shows us the utter dysfunction of our systems in perfect natural lighting. While the administrative and the political system is the target of the primary criticism, it does not take kindly to the horrors of familial abuse either. In a way, writer and director Virumaandi mocks us all. We cannot blame the rot on anyone else, he appears to say.(more)

An Unimaginable Grief Perfectly Conveyed by Aishwarya Rajesh
Aishwarya carries the work on her shoulders, conveying helpless anguish at the prospect of not being able to have one last glimpse of her husband. Sethupathi does make a significant mark, as usual. He is simply endearing as a young man in the first flush of love. His charismatic personality also makes him a darling of his village folk. (more)
