The Amateurishness Is Deafening!

It is tough to analyse where something went wrong because right through the film there is very little that really works. The later portions with a crucial reveal does hold some interest and you can now see that the one liner did have potential. This also explains why these established stars probably signed up for the film. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired.(more)

Anushka Shetty, Madhavan's verbose thriller is best left silent

Despite its best intentions, the writing and execution is so mundane that it makes you wonder who is silent in the film and if there is any significance of silence at all, because that trait rarely imbibed in the narrative.(more)

Anushka Shetty, Madhavan film has good ideas but falls short

The ideas must have sounded good on paper but the writing and execution, unfortunately, don't hold up. I couldn't help wondering if the film would have been way better if it had been set in India, making the characters more convincing. As it stands, however, Nishabdham falls short despite the big names in the cast. (more)

Despite a great cast on paper, Silence (Tamil) comes across as a missed opportunity owing to its tepid writing.

Almost all the actors exhibit decent acting skills, however, it is the screenplay, which is the biggest let-down. There are a few twists that really make you sit up and once again take notice of what's happening on the screen but again they are far and few in between. (more)

Anushka, Madhavan starrer is not impressive

All the intelligent actors like Anushka, Madhavan, Anjali, Michael Madsen who have proved their acting prowess in the past couldn't save this sinking ship called Silence mainly due to the poorly written screenplay and dialogues. The basic one-liner is quite promising and with a watertight screenplay, this could've been an excellent whodunit thriller but now, the finished product looks halfbaked. (more)

R Madhavan & Anushka Shetty Starrer Is A Random Ride To Nowhere

Not that Hemant Madhukar tries to conceal his writing glitches with his direction, instead they are more visible here. First of all, your title is Nishabdham, and there is no concrete reason to justify it. How am I supposed to connect with a metaphor referring to a mute Sakshi when she always roams around with an interpreter with her. (more)

All gloss and no depth

Nishabdham on the whole promises to be a treat, not just to Anushka's fans but to movie buffs who love thrillers too. Sadly, it doesn't always live up to that promise because all it ends up being is a stylish film with no depth. Give this one a chance this weekend for Anushka and Madhavan, if not for nothing else.(more)
