Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh's Film Is Anything But To Die For
Marjaavaan at your own peril. The film is so short of new ideas that at least a couple of its songs are rehashes. One of them has Nora Fatehi gyrating to it with all the enthusiasm in the world. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that too many people will be queuing up to pay her - and the unabashed retreading of tired tropes that this film proffers - back in kind.(more)

Marjaavaan has nothing we can take away, except a fleeting obsession we spotted in Vishnu when he realised his sworn enemy, Raghu, has no interest in continuing the enmity, despite several provocations. At that moment, Vishnu's life was left purpose-less, for what do you do when your opponent drops his weapon and walks away? If only the makers had spent more time on developing this speck of story, rather than those elaborate, yet ineffective song-and-dance sequences.(more)

Death by masala film
Marjaavaan is loud, overcooked and overdone. Turgid and tedious it just passes you by, without you caring for anyone or anything on the big screen.(more)

Marjaavaan is so hackneyed that even the usually restrained Malhotra is driven to intermittent over-acting during its two-hours-plus running time. Deshmukh hams his way through playing Vishnu. Ms Sutaria is bland.(more)

All said and done, the movie targets the single-screen audiences and misses that terribly. Yes, masala movies in Bollywood are dying but that doesn't mean we'll start taking the wrong medicines to revive the patient.(more)
