A partially tipsy ride with some interesting elements and a subordinary execution!
Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari has some interesting new elements related to drugs and has a good intention in the form of the message that it wants to convey. There are some nice moments, a lot of promise in terms of certain sequences that are shot well and decent performances but the fizz is lacking in some of the scenes in the second half that could have been a lot more precise and less of beating around the bush. Nevertheless, it cannot be completely written off and comes across as a watchable drug-based commercial entertainer with a tinge of experimentation and a relevant message. (more)

Despite being structured as a crime thriller, Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari feels like a lengthy PSA against taking drugs.
It is mainly the what's-happening factor - are the events that we are seeing happening for real or are they playing out in Karthik's head - that keeps us invested in the story. Even the visuals (by Balasubramaniem) aren't as hallucinatory as the ones we got in Simba, another film where the hero got stoned. Perhaps this was intentional, to keep us guessing, but it robs the film of visual flair. In the end, despite being structured as a crime thriller and despite the overpowering score by KP, the film feels like a lengthy PSA against taking drugs.(more)

Good dose, but not potent enough
True to the film's title, Chandru does take us on a mildly intoxicating ride and helps us reach a perceptible high. However, instead of letting us slowly waltz in the la-la land in our minds, we are crash-landed back to reality with a huge brightly-lit neon sign that says: 'Drugs are bad'. Well, for the majority of us who knew that even before embarking on this ride on the high skies, the least they could have done is made the landing a bit smoother. I mean, who even likes to have a hangover?(more)

Interesting plot marred by shoddy writing
Bodhai Yeri Buddhi Maari got a pretty interesting idea but because of the shallow execution and screenplay, the film ends up as an average watch.(more)
