This is a film I feel quite protective of. It's great that this film got made. It's great that leading technicians participated in it. It's great that Parthiban's constantly trying to evolve. It's great that in a 30-year-old directorial career, his latest film is the best looking and the best sounding. It's great that despite the enervating effects of time, he still cares.(more)

R Parthiban keeps you engaged in this pathbreaking one-man act film
For those fed on a staple diet of commercial entertainers, the pacing could make it a difficult watch, though the run time is only 105 minutes. In fact, a bit more trimming especially in the first half where you feel certain scene looks repetitive would have made it a little more slicker. These are just minor quibbles and one should admire Parthiban for taking the road nobody has travelled before and still emerging a winner.(more)

Oththa Seruppu is not the result of just one man's passionate cinematic effort... it becomes a total product thanks to competent contributions from other departments as well. That the film manages to do all that with just a single man in the frame for 105 minutes is a staggering feat. At the end of the film, Masilamani is shown walking out and smiling whole-heartedly. Oththa Seruppu is a brilliantly made movie that shows off all the talent that R Parthiban has!
The usage of just one song and keeping the background score as a major plus point for the movie has worked in Oththa Seruppu's favour! Except for a few places, the cinematography is very good overall. The brilliant writing and the suggestion shots make the viewers forget that there are no other actors in this movie. Parthiban is known for his witty wordplay and he has brought it to the fore in a few dialogues and his usage of sarcasm elevates many scenes.(more)
