As a family drama, Namma Veettu Pillai is perfectly OK even though it offers us nothing new in terms of story or treatment.

The film manages to be interesting during the lighter scenes, but the emotional scenes lack punch. The writing, especially when it comes to the characters, feels surfacial, with the most of effort largely spent on propping up the hero. Even the annan-thangachi scenes lack depth. It is Imman's score and songs that do the heavy lifting in these portions to make us care about these characters.(more)

Namma Veetu Pillai engages with strong emotions and family values.

Pandiraj, once again delivers a film with the importance of families, the significance of the bond shared between relatives are shown amazingly with ample convincing dialogues and emotional scenes in the film. The much talked about brother-sister chemistry between SK and Aishwarya is very convincing and impactful. Overall, Namma Veetu Pillai is an engaging commercial entertainer, with ample emotions and admirable drama.(more)

Sivakarthikeyan-starrer is a familiar but satisfying family drama

Even though the film is cut from the same cloth as Pandiraj's last big blockbuster, Kadaikutty Singam; you don't walk out complaining but smiling, and with a sense of satisfaction of watching a rural family drama with the right mix of sentiment.(more)

Well made rural family drama

If there is one drawback in the film, it's the Kadai Kutty Singam hangover in the initial twenty minutes but once the characters get established, we smile, laugh, and shed tears along with them. Namma Veettu Pillai is a well made rural family drama which is highly recommended!(more)

Sivakarthikeyan bounces back with this engaging family drama

The editing reminded me of the kind of cuts in a director Hari film (festivals and friendships blossom within the space of a few scenes and songs, and disappear even faster), but packaging them all neatly in limited time, and not letting the audience get bored, certainly spells task accomplished' in bold.(more)

Sivakarthikeyan is mass hero in a mish-mash of Pandiraj films

Director Pandiraj's Namma Veetu Pillai starring Sivakarthikeyan is reminiscent of the filmmaker's previous film Kadaikutty Singam. However, the emotional connect seems to be missing in Namma Veetu Pillai.(more)

Sivakarthikeyan shines in feel good entertainer

The first half is engaging with the combo of feel good narration and signature style of Siva's comedy. Post interval once the secrecy behind Thulasi is out, the movie loses a bit of sheen and moves along in predictable lines. However, there's never a dull moment. Without being preachy, the director inculcates the importance family relationships and values. Nirav Shah's rustic visuals and Imman's BGM and songs augment the proceedings. A feel-good family entertainer worth a watch for the festive season!(more)

A largely satisfying rural family drama

Namma Veettu Pillai does have playing-to-the-gallery momentsbut thats all right. Once a director establishes this is what he wants to do, as an audience, you are prepared for it. Pandiraj shows what he wants you to see and passes on every emotion, which the characters go through, to the audience.(more)
