An Inconsistent Mess That's More Of A Ranting Than A Film

The film deals with how a super alpha male like Gowtham handles his relationship and breakup. We get that he has a troubled childhood ever since his mother left him. We get that he has trust issues because of that. We get that he has an inner child that sobs for constant assurance. But, nothing convinces you as the scenes waver between extreme highs and lows. The film is awfully inconsistent. At one point, you see them making love in a Gaspar Noesque sense. And, the next scene, you are in a testosterone driven sequence of him screaming and shouting. At first place, you never really get why they fall in love. The love story behind doesn't live up to the intensity that the film tries to portray or thinks it is. And the inconsistency gets increasingly bizarre as the film progresses. (more)

The film has the required elements to attract youngsters though the screenplay becomes a little stretched in the latter half.

The film has the required elements to attract youngsters though the screenplay becomes a little stretched in the latter half. A love failure song (no TASMAC for a change) and a couple of scenes do not add much value. The movie resembles Arjun Reddy quite evidently, in one way or the other. In fact, this could have been the remake movie with a few changes made in the screenplay.(more)

A tedious watch

Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum will be liked by fans who enjoyed films like Kaatru Veliyidai and Neethane En Ponvasantham, where the two lovers are a confused pair! For others this is a tedious watch! (more)

A Misconceived Romance That Tries To Be So Hip And Cool, It's Painful

You don't feel the intensity of this love and the depth of emotion at the end, which almost involves murder. The characters' psychology is painted through odd-sounding, greeting-card lines about love and trust - and the actors just don't gel. Harish Kalyan is't bad (he makes the most of an impossible role), but Shilpa Manjunath is extremely awkward. Her scenes come across like rehearsals, and the bad clothes and makeup don't help. I suppose her look was going for "hip" and "cool", like everything else in this utterly misconceived movie. It even takes a misconceived stab at self-awareness, with a conversation about stalking that's not just badly written but not exactly relevant either, given this particular sequence of events. Imagine the irony. The one time Tamil cinema actually acknowledges this subject, it's out of context.(more)

Harish Kalyan's film is watered-down version of Arjun Reddy

The film is too lengthy with a long drawn-out-second half. The story is wafer thin and has far too many similarities to Arjun Reddy in treatment and style. Harish Kalyan as the tough and rugged hero is good, although in certain scenes he does copy Vijay Devarakonda's style. The comedians, Balasaravanan and Ma Ka Pa Anand, make you laugh while Shilpa Manjunath is totally miscast. One of the plus points of the film is Sam CS's music.(more)

Harish Kalyan film is flawed from start to end

The climax of Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum promotes a much-needed message about rejection. But, throughout the film, the director shows otherwise. In the end, there is a monologue by Harish Kalyan, which people might not lend an ear to. The 'violent love story' is flawed and glorifies stalking and you can skip it if you want.(more)

This Harish Kalyan film is highly pretentious

Though Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum tries to explore how men behave in relationships when they come from a broken family, it justifies the violent behaviour of the protagonist.(more)
