Interesting Plot.. Uninteresting Film..

Amit Ravindernath Sharma's directorial, 'Badhaai Ho' has a super interesting plot line but is that all? The film that has lively characters falls big time in living up to its capability.(more)

The situational humour of 'Badhaai Ho' is complimented perfectly, by striking performances from Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Ayushmann Khurrana.

Badhaai Ho', much like its subject, puts a fantastic new spin on the usual. In a new-age ro-com, you'd expect Ayushmann and Sanyas love story to take centre stage, but when you see the middle-aged parents blush with romance, the entertainment really becomes novel. The music by Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli and JAM8 is top-grade, too. Tracks like 'Badhaiyaan Tenu', 'Naina Na Jodeen' and 'Sajan Bade Senti' fit the mood perfectly. The film engages thoroughly, while still making a social statement. Even though the story has a limited scope, the detailed writing, the finesse of Sharma's direction and some unforgettable performances, make this film an absolute winner. (more)

Neena Gupta Is Outstanding In A Wonderful Cast

Yes, among the most impressive aspects of Badhaai Ho is the way the director harnesses the rest of the on-screen talent pool and makes every character, even the minor ones, count. In the scene where Ayushmann Khurrana's character harangues his girlfriend's mother in her own home, both he and Sheeba Chadda - she does all the talking, she only listens - are in top form, as is the director himself. The set-up is replicated a little later in an apology sequence in which Khurrana is the sole talker and Chadda is the listener.(more)

Ayushmann Khurrana's family film is worth celebrating

Badhaai Ho is, refreshingly and triumphantly, a film about the parents. It belongs to Neena Gupta's Priyamvada, nicknamed Babli, who looks luminous even when exhausted and does too much talking with her eyes as she looks at her husband fondly or at her children longingly. It belongs to Surekha Sikri, who plays a fierce and frequently immovable mother-in-law. It belongs to Sheeba Chadda, playing a soup-slurping socialite who looks down at the absence of an apostrophe.(more)

BADHAAI HO might seem like a laugh a minute riot from the promos but it's not. The funny moments are definitely there but the film also has its share of emotional and touching moments. Hence, keep your expectations right and you'll surely enjoy the fare. (more)

Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao rule this family comedy

Badhaai Ho though deserves credit for inviting conversation on how age is not a deterrent to love. Romance among forty or fiftysomething couples especially those with adolescent kids is unspoken of and overlooked for it is seen as uncomfortable, but Ghildial and Sharma showcase it with the right gentleness and sweetness thereby making the film an acceptable family outing. By the end you are rooting more for Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta than the younger couple. That's Badhaai Ho's biggest accomplishment.(more)

Watch it for Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao

Badhaai Ho doesn't quite know what it wants us to do more, laugh or cry. And parts of the film sink into sitcom flatness, especially when Sikri overdoes her grumpy 'saas' act, though some of her lines are laugh-out-loud.(more)
