Could have made a bigger impact with better climax.

Yuvan Yuvathi fails to create that lasting impact due to these features that go against it. Narration does slip into dull tones and monotony on and off as Kumaravelan finds it difficult to hold the attention of his audience. In all, a film that could have worked well with its positive features, goes south due to the week screenplay, narration and the badly conceived climax.(more)

Bland and insipid

Bharath and Rima Kallingal, as befits actors who have worked with challenging scripts before, have tried their very best to lift this one out of the mediocre, but there's only so much they can do with a shoddy screenplay that wanders all over the place and throws up the silliest sequences. Sampath, Sevvazhai, Divyadharshini and Krishna have been wasted. Santhanam is the only breath of fresh air. (more)

Not enough fizz.

Much of the film’s relief comes from Santhanam who plays Kathir’s companion. Occupying almost equal footage to the hero’s, he spices up the proceedings. Vijay Antony’s music is peppy and youthful. An average entertainer, Yuvan Yuvathi may not bore you. But it doesn’t have that fizz to keep one completely engrossed in the happenings.(more)
