Prithviraj Sukumaran plays tribute to Mohanlal by presenting him in a mass avatar that is appealing for both the fans and the general audience.
Mohanlal is nearly pitch- perfect essaying Stephen Nedumpally in his own characteristic fashion. This is nowhere close to his best even if one was to look only among his out and out commercial ventures, but nevertheless it's a welcome addition to his films with a mass avatar. Prithviraj doesn't get a smooth ride all the way with his directorial debut, but manages to prove that he can deliver an entertaining commercial film for sure.(more)

Lucifer is a 'mass entertainer' that is sure to please the fans and has enough going for to make it an engaging thriller as well. And apart from the mandatory Stan Lee, correction, Antony Perumbavoor cameo, watch out for Stephen's second avatar in the film. (more)

With Lucifer, Prithviraj gives us a textbook example on how to make a mass film with neat filmmaking.
Lucifer is one such films where the form and technical prowess enhance the commercial script. The visuals tell the story (one such example includes the scene where the arrival of Bobby in the party's meeting is intercut with that of a spider clinging onto the photo of Ramadas). The mass moments are overpopulated with crowds and widescreen photography covers the exteriors with a greater depth that cinemascope cannot offer. More than that, fans of Mohanlal can rejoice at the superstar's thunderous return to form. Overall, Lucifer is a mass star vehicle that entertains the audience throughout with a combination of well-written mass moments and great film-making.(more)

Mohanlal gives enough to cheer for the audience as Stephen Nedumbally. He shines with his amazing dialogue delivery and looks convincing as he takes on his rivals. He is easily the best thing about this film and his superb performance in a way make you forget the shortcomings if any. Vivek Oberoi, who plays the villain, is menacing.
