Vandhaan Vendraan

Critics Review

Average

There are a few nice touches here and there, mostly the sincere attempts of the lead actors, locations and song picturisation but most of the scenes lack the energy that was required to make it interesting. Hence the pace drags and boredom sets in.(more)

Decent entertainer

Vandhan Vendran is a decent entertainer. Though, the movie does not offer anything special, yet the movie could be seen once. It is a positive attempt made by Kannan and it has all the ingredients.(more)

A curate's egg Vandhan vendran

The movie is half romance and half action. With Jiiva's screen presence, it lives up to expectations. However there seems to be something missing on the whole. The script and narration lacks adequate pace. It is a cross between romance and action. Kannan had woven a god story but missed to replicate charm of Jeyamkondan at many places.(more)

Disappoints

The screenplay falls apart spectacularly. The mildly engaging first half, with the antics of Santhanam, works slightly, but in the second half with its supposed cat-and-mouse games, silly plot twists and melodramatic climax, you can do little but sigh with disappointment. Jiiva more or less sleep-walks through his role while Tapsee mostly smiles and smirks through hers. Nandha comes off as the most stylish of them all and appears to be enjoying his role. (more)

Fairly entertaining with an unexpected twist

Kannan has done a fairly neat job and VV is likely to appeal to family audience as there are no cringe-worthy scenes or dialogues and the film is reasonably engaging.(more)

Overall Vandhaan Vendraan is a good family entertainer with some interesting twists!

After Jeyamkondaan and Kanden Kadhalai, we expect a lot from director Kannan. His characterizations are brilliant but the screenplay could have been better.(more)

Passable show. Can watch it once.

‘Vandhaan Vendraan’ has some interesting moments, but if Kannan had tried avoiding certain things over the screenplay like illogical sequences, the film would have been classy. The flashback in the climax about Jeeva’s plans is a rip from Hindi movie ‘Chocolate’.(more)

Vandhaan Vendraan - Show of strength

'Vandhaan Vendraan' has everything to entertain, but the way it has been presented fails to strike the chord somehow. Kannan however deserves applause for trying to unconventionally do a conventional theme. It's Jiiva all the way. His screen presence is the movie's backbone. Taapsee is chirpy and bubbly. Santhanam provides big relief. Thaman's music is nice to listen to.(more)

He's come, he's been seen, he could conquer

If you are willing to give the slackening pace midway through VV the go by, the film has interesting twists, an impressive cast, a fresh milieu and appreciable performances.(more)

Jiiva hogs all the way in adventurous thriller

The major highpoints are Thaman's fabulous music and cinematography by P.G. Muthiaha which captures lush locations especially in the song sequences. A fairly engaging flick worth a watch! (more)

Vandhaan Vendraan’ is a cocktail gone awry!

Jiiva and Taapsee share pleasant onscreen chemistry. One can’t fault Jiiva’s performance, but it’s in no way challenging to the actor. A couple of songs are aesthetically picturised. Rahman, as the cop, comes towards the tail end in a role, wasted and irrelevant. Santhanam manages to provide comic relief at times.(more)
