Ashok has definitely not wanted to present a full-fledged horror film, and his ideology is appreciable. With a fresh treatment to the screenplay, the director could have scored big, and Bhaagamathie would have made a broader impact.(more)

Anushka Shetty owns this edge-of-the-seat thriller
The gem of this film is, of course, Anushka Shetty. She plays Bhaagamathie with such grace and talent that it leaves us in awe of her performance. That one scene where she stylishly drapes her shawl shows her screen presence. If anyone has doubts that she can carry a film on her shoulders, Bhaagamathie is the answer.(more)

Anushka Shetty shines in this horror-thriller that owes a lot to its technicians
Bhaagamathie is an impressive outing for the whole cast and crew, and it's also a reminder for us that there are plenty of ways to narrate a story despite having a dilapidated house, a ghost, a hapless young woman, and a gut-wrenching backstory. A big thumbs up for the film.(more)
