This Vikram Prabhu starrer is an example of lazy filmmaking, predictable plot

Vikram Prabhu tries desperately to salvage this mishmash of a 1980s type masala, formulaic film, but it falls flat. To a certain extent, Nikki Galrani as a crazy Rajinikanth fan brings some entertainment to otherwise a dull and boring film.(more)

A rural romance that fails to create an impact

Things sort of heat up in the second half when director Surya delves into the stories of 'Dhoni' Kumar (another Vikram Prabhu) and 'Rajini' Radha (a boisterous Nikki Galrani). There's a little more investment in this romance, for there's a constant one-upmanship between the lead pair who're big fans of the cricketer and the superstar. But the songs serve as speedbreakers, and the comedy (by Soori and Sathish) barely manages to bring about the laughs. The incredulous climax doesn't help things much as well. Pakka fails to create any kind of impact.(more)

This Vikram Prabhu starrer is a pucca disaster

Now we come to the logic. Paandi and Nadhiya get separated due to circumstances and end up searching for each other. I am not sure why they don't have an amazing invention called a mobile phone. As the other love track between Dhoni Kumar and Rajini Radha shows, the film isn't set in an era where mobile phones were a rarity. But that is just the kind of film Pakka is - a film where the role of a Rajini fan is played by someone who can't even get the lip sync right most times. You just end up wondering who had the guts to name the film Pakka.(more)
