Silukkuvaarpatti Singam is largely a family-friendly comedy that manages to be a lighthearted diversion

A few of these episodes do manage to make us laugh. The timing goes missing in a few (as in the epilogue where Chandran narrates his back story). Some scenes, like the climax, lack the all-out madcap energy and absurdity of the films of Sundar C and the Kamal Haasan-Crazy Mohan films. The humour is inconsistent. But the film is otherwise clean, and family-friendly. And it manages to accomplish what it set out to do, give us an undemanding comedy, in a somewhat satisfactory manner.(more)

An unsatisfactory attempt at a laugh riot

The saving grace of the film is Yogi Babu whose dialogue delivery and comic timing is spot on. The climax is just a weak attempt to tie all the loose ends together.(more)

Silukuvarpatti Singam is a watchable template of rural comedy-drama that might satisfy its target audiences.

The film might still turn out to be a fun roller coaster ride for the family audiences. Despite its templated treatment, the humour might work better for the targeted audience. Leon James songs and background score lack the punch and fall short. J Lakshman's visuals add to the colourful mood of the film.(more)

A Funny-In-Parts Film That Has Nothing New To Offer

It's a film that partially succeeds in what it sets out to do, but Chella Ayyavu fails in his attempt at that one laugh-till-you-cry stretch that we got in Ezhil's Velainnu Vanthutta Vellakkaran(more)
