Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu Movie Review

when it comes to people, the director doesnt mind making his point, but even here, he is subtle. In a lovely visual gag in an early scene, he gives us a shot of two lorries one loaded with these people and another loaded with buffaloes crossing each other. It is only later, in the climactic courtroom scene, that we realise the significance of this shot. In this age of outrage, people have also become a herd.(more)

A realistic and thoroughly enjoyable rural film

The title may give an impression that thefilm carries a message against animal slaughter. Of course the film has been told in the goats point of you also. Not just for the characters but the audience can root for the goat also. But the message about the animal is so subtle and it has been left to the perspective of viewer. The film neither lauds nor demonizes animal sacrifice at any instance throughout.(more)

A goat's tale

OKKM's narrative could have easily gone astray and caused some moments that lag, but director Suresh Sangaiah manages to keep you in a tight grip throughout. He weaves a suspense-laden thriller you keep wanting to know what would eventually happen to the man who was 'murdered' but that is well layered with some genuinely funny sub-plots and strong valid points about animal slaughter.(more)

A sharp and intelligent screenplay

A sharp and intelligent screenplay that throws up some pleasant surprises (besides being light and gratifying) holds the film together. It has its thrills in the right place and all the characters including the goat are warm and human. A film not to be missed!(more)

OKKM is an enjoyable experimental film in a rural backdrop.

The film does have a baddie but till the very end, his motive is never established. Was he money minded? The hero does establish in one of the scenes that the character is angry at him for some reason. But those are petty reasons. Was there a family feud or was money the only motive? If so would someone wait for years to reap for it? These are the questions that a common man would ask the director who had left the reason open-ended.(more)
