Nawazuddin's worst film

Nawazuddin and Goswami go about the task of enthusing the film with their guts and chicanery, but fall flat time and again, thanks to Nandy's helmsmanship. The director, in his effort to get your attention, brings forth a lot of kinkiness to the proceedings.(more)

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Isn't At His Best In This Film Riddled With Holes

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz hurtles towards an insipid, unintelligible climax, which includes a bout of Russian roulette between two adversaries. It is, in the end, much ado about nothing because the outcome of the life-and-death contest is as predictable as everything else in the film.(more)

Assassin Nawazuddin Siddiqui shoots in the air

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has got the ingredients, but their proportions are not right. If you laugh at a Nawaz jibe then you also sense the futility of useless conspiracies. Sometimes for absolutely no reason. Then there is a twist thats as forced as Nawazuddin stroking his hair in every second scene.(more)

Poor Mans Gangs Of Wasseypur

Kushan Nandy drags the film on a one-line plot and fails to maintain the grip from the word go. Yes, it has some high moments but not enough to make the film close to like able. As Alfred Hitchcock once said, There are three things needed to make a good film, script, script and script Unfortunately, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz doesnt has any one of them.(more)

Nawazuddin Siddiqui shines in a dull drama

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is an out-and-out Nawaz film. His quirks, his mannerisms, his flaws, all make for a delightful watch. But Nawaz does not come across as enough in this film. He has evidently, visibly, thrown his lot with his Babu. If only director Kushan Nandy could have given Babumoshai a script befitting of his calibre(more)

Movie Review

BABUMOSHAI BANDOOKBAAZ has some interesting, quirky moments in the first half but the problem is that it's not put together well. This is evident from the first scene itself and especially during the opening credits. The entry of Phulwa and Banke Bihari does spike the interest. Two scenes at this point work very well - the sequence where Triloki is assassinated and the sequence where Babu, Banke and Phulwa dance together. The intermission point is shocking but post interval, the film goes completely downhill. The only formula adopted by the makers after a point is to just shock the viewers but in the process, logic and sense gets sacrificed. There's too much of mindless killings and sex that is not at all convincing.(more)
