An intelligently woven script that becomes predictable at places, but all the same a good watch
The suspense element is revealed through the midpoint of the second half and from that point, we are offered only what we predict. A few scenes have been repeated to narrate from different perspectives. Though those scenes help strengthen the characterization of the negative lead but they sound so redundant and could have been handled better.(more)

An engaging thriller with a surprise villain
'Adhey Kangal' is an engaging thriller with some neat twists. A trimmer first half and avoidance of some logic loopholes could have made much wonders. The surprise villain deserves a special credit.(more)

Thrill out
Adhe Kangal belongs to Sshivada. She's asked to deliver a few too many enigmatic smiles, but she pulls the film together. Among the less-established actresses, she has easily the best resume the terribly underrated Nedunchaalai, last year's gonzo horror film Zero, and now this. One hopes Kollywood is taking note.(more)

As far as debut efforts go, Adhe Kangal lacks the dazzle of the recent Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (in fact, this film is visually indistinct), but there is a quiet assuredness in the filmmaking, especially in the second half, that gives us hope for Rohin Venkatesan's next outing.(more)

A realistic and believable thriller
Ghibran's musical experience is an asset. "Adhe Kangal" is not the type of film that would have you marvelling at the technicalities, but the pictures exude a confidence of sorts that would leave you satisfied.(more)
