In spite of a few glaring flaws Sadhuram 2 engages with a taut screenplay leading to an interesting climax. Go for it.
The film needs is some great acting from the cast like for example in Demonte Colony where most of the action takes place in a single room and Arulnidhi and co. did a great job. Sadly, in Sadhuram 2 the acting of the entire cast of mostly newcomers and little known faces is average and below which is a big minus. The backstory of the antagonist which has been written for the remake does not make any great impact as it is far fetched. Dialogues are pretty ordinary. Luckily the taut screenplay saves the day for everyone(more)

Sadhuram 2 lacked finesse in presentation
The film lacks production value, technical finesse and the extra mile effort required to match its Hollywood predecessor's success, and required more clarity and crispness in plot to make it a good watch for a person who hasnt seen Saw previously.(more)

Thriller with a clumsy screenplay
Sadhuram 2 is a welcome 94 minutes long without the usual songs and dances or even unnecessary background score, the movie may not have a good theatrical run. An amateurish screenplay makes the film seem quite like a puzzle whose answers are not easy to find. It is never a cakewalk to make a suspense drama. It needs a lot of expertise -- like Hitchcocks or Michael Hanekes -- to present a work that is neat. Radhakrishnan slips here. So perhaps editor Raja Sethupathi.(more)

Sadhuram 2
The director keeps cutting between these various plots, which enhances the disorienting feeling that we have. But the problem is that the moody visuals of cinematographer Sathish G are hyper-edited (SP Raja Sethupathi is the editor) that we begin to feel nauseous after a point of time (the effect is as similar as watching a badly done 3D film non-stop for three hours). The acting, too, is way exaggerated, and that takes away some of the thrill that Girishh Gopalakrishnan's gripping score provides. But where the film slips is in going the full distance providing us gore, which is what you think first when you think of Saw.(more)

A thriller that could have been more engaging
The positive aspects of the film are its running time with 95 minutes, decision to steer clear of dance and song routines, Indian adaptation with a social message etc. BGM by Girish Gopalakrishnan is also to an extent good. All the same, the low production values (anyone can make out that the dingy room is a set design), not extracting the best from some of the actors and confusing the audiences with back and forth short episodes are downers. Had Sumanth concentrated on a taut and clear screenplay, the film would have been more engaging.(more)
