Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen, ironically, is a real threat to your sensibilities.
The movie begins where three irrelevant tracks merge into one point and thereby makes absolutely no sense as how it was separately. Thirty minutes into the movie, you find a horror track peeping in and you all of a sudden become a little hopeful (Yeah, that little hope you gained after seeing Manithan) only to realize that the movie worsens even further.(more)

Uday who gave a neat performance in his earlier film, Manithan, fails to impress.His fans who were howling and hooting initially, walked out of the theatre silently. Soori has to change his style of comedy and reinvent himself to get to the next level. Wonder why director Ezhil chose such a mundane script; his strength being comedy. But even that doesn't work here at all.(more)

Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen Movie Review
Touted to be a slapstick comedy, the film tends to take an unexpected spooky route from here, because of which the wafer-thin plot becomes irritating; otherwise, the film would at least have been watchable. The unconvincing flashback sequences, involving the friendship between Saravanan and Fathima (Srushti Dange), and the emotions involved in it, spoil the little fun the film offered till then, leading to unpredictable scenes. One can easily make out that the predictability is evident owing to the director losing the plot somewhere in between. A mish-mash of hardly laughable sequences, confusions, an item song and unnecessary drama follow, only to make things worse. Like in a few recent films, most of Soori's one liners misfire, while Yogi Babu proves to be a relief.(more)
