THOTTI JAYA

Critics Review

2.50

Average, nevertheless catch the action.

Silambarasan’s Thotti Jaya's premise is promising and interesting in the first half but later it peters out as a violent film reduced to a staple 'masala' formula. On the whole, Thotti Jaya just does not make it to the finishing point as the second half limps! The plus point of the film is undoubtedly Silambarasan. Harris Jayaraj's music is good and R.D.Rajasekhar's camera is top-notch. Antony could have reduced the length of the film to make it racier in the second half.(more)

Action and satisfaction.

Though a much-repeated storyline in Tamil filmdom, the fast narration by director Durai combined with R D Rajasekar's good work behind the camera and Anthony's brisk editing make the movie engrossing. Silambarasan's emotions and Gopika's subtle performance add weight to the film. Harris Jeyaraj has come up with some racy numbers to suit the mood of the film. Durai shows that he has the gumption to weave a good story and thread it with acceptable logic and script.(more)

For action lovers.

The speedy narration by director Durai makes one overlook the clichéd storyline. One striking quality about Silambarasan is his energy. He seems to carry the role with ease and vibrancy. Gopika is a perfect foil to him; she is at her best and looks stunning too. Harris Jeyaraj has done a neat job. R.D.Rajasekhar's brilliance with the camera has always been indisputable. His cinematography combined with Anthony's racy editing add to the glitz of the movie. (more)
