Another mass masala remake!

Watch Siruthai if you are a hardcore mass masala fan. Chances are that you might like Karthi, who is trying his best to prevent the movie from its impending dive into the depths of hackneyed void. Karthi and Santhanam complement each other as well. Tamannah is just another pretty face in the movie. Ganesh's stunts are old-school-ish. Despite this, Velraj's cinematography manages to tone down the movie's violence with its subtlety (a quality that is otherwise non-existent in the movie).(more)

Test of endurance.

This is one of those mindless and stereotype mass entertainers we have seen in 70's and 80's, which will not appeal to the current generation. Vidyasagar's music makes you snore. Technically there is nothing to complain or talk about. The performances by Karthi and Tamannaah are embarrassingly over-the-top. Santhanam is the only saving grace. On the whole, Siruthai doesn't have a shred of intelligence, and it suffers big time with a lame script. (more)

Karthi's show all the way.

Director Siva has done his best to make sure the star, rather than the actor, takes precedence. Yet, despite the ridiculous plot and sheer lack of logic in some places, Siruthai manages to snag your attention. A good deal is because of Karthi, and Santhanam, and the suspense in the beginning. Tamannah is little more than arm-candy, Baby Rakshana is cute and appealing, but the rest of the cast is barely there. (more)

Cheetah fight.

As long as you are not ready to complain that 'Siruithai' lacks logic, the film would work big time, as it is an out and out commercial fare. Fast and furious from the word go; the movie comes with a sole purpose to provide entertainment and with no pretensions achieves the purpose. Be it the dialogues, comedy, action or romance, 'Siruthai' manages to sustain all interest - it is like a pot where you put your hand every time you get a fortune.(more)

Thumbs up for the casting.

Karthi looks and performs better with every film. Siruthai exemplifies the observation. Plausibility and logic have no place in Siruthai's scheme of things. The formula of a commercial potboiler followed to a T. The beaten track, all right, but Karthi lends it the essential verve. Art director Rajeevan shows that even set properties can accentuate humour. Ganesh Kumar's stunt choreography, particularly in the climax, makes Siruthai's action sequences thrilling. Cinematography (Velraj) is equally commendable in these scenes.(more)

Entertainer.

Siva's Siruthai is a full blown entertainer. Karthi and Santhanam let loose a laugh riot. The movie is fast and engaging; never does it stagnate. With Siruthai's songs already a hit, the video songs are a bonus. Tamannaah fades away in the movie without much importance. Siruthai will be remembered as one of the most entertaining movies in Kollywood and is Karthi's confirmation as an A grade actor. (more)
