A wholesome ghost story that engages and entertains

Devi works well for its humor, performance of the cast and the engrossing narration. Prabhu Deva making a comeback after a long time is also something to check out for and at the end of the film you do wish that we see him more often on screen.(more)

Engaging horror comedy

The film completely belongs to Tamannaah, as she beautifully carries both Ruby the glamourous actress and the village girl Devi with great lan. Sonu Sood fits the bill. Technically, Manush Nandan's cinematography is a big plus. Two songs are peppy and hummable but has a Hindi feel to it. A major problem with Devi is the Hindi dubbed feel, thanks to few North Indian actors barring that this is a neat feel good horror comedy!(more)

The Devi(l) wears pavadai

The fulcrum of the film, though, is the way in which the ghost is portrayed and that, for me, was craftily worked out by a director whose earlier offerings have been a tad too saccharine. Maybe Devi is Vijay's way of saying he can do pei-sa vasool entertainers too.(more)
