Essence Of Memories Intact

Arivazhagan has mostly got everything else right. The narration is tight with almost no space anywhere or any clumsy attempt to fit in anything. The mood of the film too is set very early on and maintained throughout. The flashback that narrates the back-story of the killer and the final countdown l...(more)

An Engaging Crime Thriller

Overall, Aarathu Sinam is an honest attempt by director Arivazhagan, who does full justice to a tried and tested script. (more)

For all those hungry crime thriller addicts, Aarathu Sinam is a good watch

Although the film has freshness and is fairly gripping, a tighter screenplay could have made it one of the best movies in the genre. There are certain repetitive flashback shots that could have been reduced. The film also has only two songs and both of them are montages. A few might feel that the fi...(more)

A taut thriller like the original, Memories

We would never know, but it is here at this point in the plot that the film appears to totter a bit -- much like the protagonist, who for most of his screen time is drunk. Can such a cop be capable of smart deductions, which sometimes seem uncannily close to those used by Sherlock Holmes -- especial...(more)

A Gripping and Realistic Thriller.'Aarathu Sinam' is a thriller that cannot be missed.

Thaman's re-recording is highly effective in pushing the thrill factor. There are only two songs and both the songs are likeable. Aravind Singh's cinematography gives us the feel of being in a Madurai and south Tamil Nadu localities and the excessive night scenes should have been a challenge. Editin...(more)

Arulnithi does a good job but Arivazhagan fails to match expectations

Though Arivazhagan has tried to change it to suit local sensibilities, some elements simply do not work. Does an AC who lives in Madurai in real life live like Aravind? Aravind while investigating the case is not doing any investigationhe is just told things and he goes on a chase. The comedy the d...(more)

A disappointing serial-killer thriller

Maybe something got lost in the translation, but theres no mood, no atmosphere, no white-knuckle tension in Aarathu Sinam. Theres just plot. And big swatches of explanatory dialogue people keep talking as though a switch went on, and they just wont stop. It isnt even conversation. Its just in...(more)

Aarathu Sinam is a decent crime thriller

What ruins the narration though is the ridiculous comedy track that is totally out of sync. Robo Shankar, who is known for his spontaneity, superb dialogue delivery and wit, gives a lackluster performance. He plays the incompetent cop, whose sloppy investigative technique could have been explored to...(more)
