Okayish or Mundane is the word
A little urgency and excitement is what this film needed. As such it occupies the huge space between a tiring watch and a watchable fare. The proximity to either of these two boundaries would depend on what you look for in a film. (more)

This Jiiva-Nayanthara starrer is a romp of rowdies.
Thirunaal, however, does have some above average performances. What, to me, appears as a no-no is the kind of extolling that takes place in Tamil cinema -- of anti-social elements. They are put on a pedestal and celebrated to the hilt, and offences like stalking are given a clean chit -- making them look like perfectly acceptable social behaviour. A rural flick that could have worked better had it been handled with an engaging screenplay
There is everything you expect from a commercial film, the villain introduction, love proposal, romance song, baddie deeds of villain, glamour, love failure song, item song and a climax fight, but Thirunaal falls into the age-old template of rural action films with masala elements. Had the film come ten years ago, it might have worked a little better.(more)
