Muted roar.

For his debut project, Sai Ramani has chosen a mainstream commercial subject with clearly etched out characters which could have worked wonders but unfortunately he has not capitalized this aspect in weaving an engaging tale. The inconsistent narration meanders through the course of the film with its lumpy episodic nature that fails to have an engrossing effect on the audience. The major factors that work against Singam Puli are its lengthy duration, music with jarring old re-recording and contrived song sequences. Fails to roar.

Jiiva's long in the cans debutant Sai Ramani directed Singam Puli, is an uninspiring 2 hours 45 minutes masala film that takes the viewer for granted. Till interval the film plods on with too many comedy scenes of Santhanam and double entendre galore. The second half the film falters and crashes out in a highly contrived climax. Mani Sharma's music is cacophony. Singam Puli which promised to roar ends with a whimper. (more)

So long that you yawn.

Singam Puli is another sincere effort from the Jiiva. Divya Spandana acquits herself well, because she isn't a mere glam doll here. The other heroine, Gayathri, looks cute and performs creditably in a crisp role. Santhanam's comedy evokes a laugh or two but the ridiculous length of the track and the unwarranted double entendres spoil the fun. The real villain of Singam Puli is the long-winding screenplay, which makes you fidgety.(more)

Singam Puli works, most of the time.

If you like masala fare, director Sai Ramani's Singam Puli is just the film for you. Jiiva, in a double role, has a ball. He pulls off two diametrically opposite roles with ease, distinguishing each with different body language and dialogue delivery. Kudos to the screenplay as well! Divya looks pretty. Santhanam is his usual lewd self, but manages to wring some laughter. On the flip side, the screenplay lags in the second half.(more)

Domestic animals.

Jeeva has done his part well. He is there giving his best in every frame. Divya Spandhana appears briefly. Santhanam is entertaining in parts. Mani Sharma disappoints with his musical score. Balasubrmanaiam's camera is soft. The major lacuna in the movie is its length. The second half is too draggy and needs an urgent trimming.(more)

Singam Puli is a neat entertainer if you are ready to forget some loopholes and logic.

Kudos to Jiiva for his wonderful performance. Without him, the movie would have fallen flat. To add more fun, we have Santhanam, who manages to evoke some laughter. Divya Spandana doesn't have much to perform but she looks pretty. Debut director Sai Ramani has managed to create a neat commercial entertainer in his first attempt. But the biggest drawback of Singam Puli is its length. Moreover, the screenplay lags in the second half and many scenes appear disjointed.(more)
