Watch only for Vijay, Asin
Watch Pokkiri only if you are a fan of Vijay and Asin because there's nothing more tedious than a badly made remake. The movie is held together purely by Vijay, whose baby face good looks and understated style, is one of the two saving graces (the other being Asin) of what is otherwise a thoroughly agonizing film. Director Prabhudeva, after gaining the much-coveted rights to remake this film in Tamil amidst heavy competition failed to do justice to the film.(more)

Possibly a Vijay century
The hard work that has been put into this movie by Vijay is evident right from the start. Prabhu Deva making his directorial debut in Tamil has done a convincing job, with a special mention on the dance sequences. The ‘formula’ has been adhered to well by the script and executed well by the director without appearing stale or repetitive. The tempo of the screenplay, the movie’s single most important factor does not sag through the entire length of the movie. (more)

With lots of punch – Pokkiri
After watching the Telugu `Pokkiri,' one wondered how it could be rehashed to suit Vijay. Well, kudos to Prabhu Deva for doing a fine job of the remake. "Pokkiri" has all the ingredients to make it a box office success. This is one film where Vijay uses his fists and the punch dialogue with telling effect. (more)

Attractively packaged and presented
'Pokiri" is a story peppered with fast-paced action, humor, romance, and stirring dialogues. Vijay has done similar roles umpteen times in the past. But how his macho role in 'Pokiri' stands apart is his virility and aggressive independence, which comes into full play all through the long-widing movie. (more)

Paisa Vasool
Pokkiri is a power packed mass masala entertainer. If you are looking out for some fun and time-pass entertainment then Prabhu Deva and Vijay combo is sure to make your day. Thrill-a-minute is the calling card of this unpretentious film which plays to the gallery. Superbly choreographed action and song sequences, fast moving storyline laced with Vadivelu's comedy, romance and subtle sentiments - all make this film a festival treat. (more)

Action aplenty
With a winner in the form of story, Vijay in the company of Prabhu Deva has come out with an action-packed entertainer. For the flip side, one can mention Asin's make-up in certain shots, which could have been better. Excellent choreography, thrilling action sequences and catchy songs besides cool 'punch lines from Vijay contribute for a cracker in Pokiri. It is not just these alone, but also editing, cinematography and re-recording as well, as all the departments have joined together to create an interesting potpourri(more)

Smart 'N' Excellent
National Award Choreographer Prabhu Deva has directed this movie. The movie Pokkiri is a re-make of a Telugu film Pokkiri. If the violence in the movie would have been reduced it would have been good. This is a movie which is typically suited for Vijay. All the characters in the movie are perfect. (more)
