Scarcely scary but well made

Ajay Gnanamuthu has to be credited for being true to the genre. A little warm up to introduce the characters and we are into the main plot and no room has been given to accommodate anything that might be believed to cater to a wider audience. Modelled on horror flicks from the West, Demonte Colony stays true to it's genre and is a well-made film. A little more scare is what we wanted.(more)

A gripping horror movie

After a series of Horror-comic flicks, Demonte colony would definitely be a relief to horror lovers, for this movie is tad serious about the genre. The film is also custom made without too many gory scenes making it a good family entertainer too.(more)

A well made paranormal thriller !

Demonte Colony is high on fear quotient and scene after scene, especially, in the second half wallops you in unexplainable and paranormal activities going on in the screen. The main man who gives you this feel is undoubtedly the music director Keba Jeremiah who with his powerful background score pushes you to the edge of the seat with your heart in your mouth. (more)

Engaging

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu takes his own time to establish all the four protagonists and their backdrop which tests our patience but once all of them enter into the haunted bungalow, the pace gets accelerated; especially the second of the movie is completely arresting and warrants our complete attention. Movie Review

Horror comedy might be the flavour of the season, but debutant Ajay Gnanamuthu's Demonte Colony is a refreshing change it is a pure horror film with no frills attached (forget comedy, the film does not even have a heroine!), and this alone makes us want to appreciate the director. (more)

Demonte Colony is a gripping tale of horror

Almost entirely shot in a single room with no gruesome ghosts or unnecessary build up, the director has skilfully created the eerie atmosphere, with incessant rain, a subtle aura of menace, unsophisticated characters and underlying hint of truth. The film is undoubtedly a fine attempt by the debutant director. (more)
