Engaging.
Silambarasan has understood both the comedic and dramatic possibilities, and played the role well. Santhanam, though, with his timely one-liners, easily carries half the load and walks way with plenty of applause, while VTV Ganesh too contributes his bit. The production values are, naturally, excell...(more)

Not the regular Simbu kind of syrupy romance.
A multi-track screenplay that has five pivots running parallel, a protagonist who projects the angst and foibles of an ambitious youngster and a culmination on unexpected lines make Vaanam watchable. Vaanam is worth investing on a movie ticket.
The film works due to Krish's story and outstanding camerawork by Nirav Shah. Antony's editing makes the narration crisp especially the way he criss-crosses between the parallel stories. All the artists have performed well and have equal screen presence. Nirav Shah's...(more)

What an entertainer!
Vaanam's first half brings you to this edge of the seat situation. Director Krish hasn't just got a new name in Kollywood, but had earned a velvet seat too. The story, screenplay and appealing editing are bolted tight, with not the slightest of space for flaws. (more)
