Lost in too-much of everything!

The Shaukeens is the story of three old men who struggle to accept the reality of their growing ages and therefore decide to accomplish their unfulfilled desires. And therefore these three -1) Laali (Anupam Kher), a family man whose over-pious wife doesnt allow him his needed dose of lust, 2) Pinky (Piyush Mishra), a lonely widower, 3) KD (Annu Kapoor) a 60-year old bachelor embark a journey to the fun-filled Mauritius to do some Ladkibaazi. Also, Delhi is no longer safe.n all, The Shaukeens is no match to the old one and should be skipped. Rather, one should go and watch the 1982-hit on Youtube. But if you are a Akshay Kumar fan you wont be so disappointed.(more)

The Shaukeens would have been an outright washout.

They rent the bungalow of a pretty young thing, Ahana (Lisa Haydon), a fancy-free designer who recycles used material into ready-to-wear clothes and accessories. Having broken up with her long-time boyfriend, she aborts a planned road trip and returns to her seaside home. The three men cannot contain their excitement on seeing the girl in their midst and decide to hit the beach with her. The trouble with The Shaukeens is that both the characters and the film as a whole hit all the wrong buttons in a bid to generate mirth. Akshay Kumar, who also doubles up as the narrator, is the only one in the cast who seems to have had a certain degree of genuine fun. The rest merely go through the motions. The leading lady of The Shaukeens ditches her boyfriend because, in her words, "he made fun of my creation and called it stupid and obnoxious". That is it: those are the very adjectives that would best describe this unfunny, eminently avoidable film. (more)

Akshay Kumar is the real scene stealer of The Shaukeens!

The Shaukeens justifies their actions as an outcome of loneliness seeing as one's wife (an under utilised Rati Agnihotri) has turned devout; another's is dead and third never got married.whenever Akshay appears on screen, The Shaukeens transforms into another movie -- one that's substantially more comic, cheeky and winsome -- it's the one I enjoyed the most, it's the one I wished I had come to see. THE SHAUKEENS is a full on Bollywood entertainer that you wouldn't want to miss.

THE SHAUKEENS follows a similar plotline where three lonely men take the path of lust to add some fun to their monotonous life. Laali aka Lalchand (Anupam Kher), is a shoe-shop owner and a family man but his wife has taken the 'sanyashashram' and has sacrificed all sexual relations in order to attain salvation. On the other hand, we have the evergreen KD (Annu Kapoor) a bachelor brooding over his unrequited love. Then we get to meet the third 'shaukeen' Pinky (Piyush Mishra), a widower trying to find love once again amidst a huge family of two sons and his grandchild. The three, after many unsuccessful plans decide to fulfill their wishes abroad and take off to Mauritius for a fun filled trip. While they rent out a house of a young girl, they come across their 'land-lady' Aahana (Lisa). Young, free spirited and hot, the three try to woo the girl in their own way. (more)

The Shaukeens is thoroughly entertaining.

The Shaukeens is a remake, rather recreation of Basu Chatterjee's 1982 Shaukeen starring Ashok Kumar, Utapal Dutt, AK Hangal, Rati Agnihotri and Mithun Chakraborty. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, The Shukeens boasts of pace and crispy dialogues. Tigmanshu Dhulia's tight screenplay and flawless act by the three veterans make the film immensely watchable.Abhishek Sharma, who gave us the delightful Tere Bin Laden, does a great job with The Shukeens too. The film, despite its theme does not get crass or vulgar even once, which is why it will get a larger audience. (more)
