Average.
The cinematography of Sathya, especially the night effects are good, though nothing much can be said of K's background score. Among the cast, Cheran is striking. Y Gee Mahendran is miscast, while Lakshmi is riveting in the climax. Jayaprakash is stunning. Deepa Shah has hardly anything much to do. On the whole, the film has a few gripping moments but suffers on account of inconsistent writing which makes it drag in the second half. (more)

A slow paced, well made thriller.
What works for Yudham Sei is its linear narration and effective screen play. There are no unwanted elements. The larger part of the film keeps the audience guessing and in suspense. He has also managed to tell his story with little known artists which require appreciation. Kay's RR is sometimes perfect, delivering the right kind of mood for the film whereas in a few sequences it stands out obtrusively. Sathyan's prying camera peeps, thrills, and gives the needed feel.(more)

Yuddham Sei is gripping.
In any Mysskin film, the camera and music play as important roles as humans themselves and this one is no different. Sathya has performed visual gymnastics with it. Mention must certainly be made of K, the composer, who's given a background score that's mature, convincing, and actually raises goose-pimples at certain points. Yuddham Sei may have its flaws, but Mysskin's neat touches of situational humour, clever twists in the first half and convincing characters make this a neat film, if not a classic. (more)

The war will be won.
Yuddham Sei is not a conventionally commercial film but has a lot for cultivated audience. Story is simple. It is in the detailing and the gripping narration the film wins. It gives a new dimension to detective genre in Tamil. There are a lot of scenes to show Mysskin's touch throughout the film. In the acting department it is Cheran's game all the way. Even the supporting cast has done a brilliant job in Yuddham Sei. (more)

Hard-hitting storyline.
A team of commendable performers come together for Mysskin's Yuddham Sei, a hard-hitting story. As always, Mysskin's casting is interesting. Cheran is agile, and quite at home in the part, which doesn't call for much effort on the expression front. Three actors stand out — Jayaprakash, Y. Gee. Mahendra and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan. Cinematographer Sathya's contribution is crucial — his lens and lighting accentuate the suspense and eeriness of the drama. K, the new composer, revs up the tempo with his splendid re-recording.(more)
