An urban dark tale.

Although the premise in Easan is urban, its quintessential sensibilities are very definitely bucolic and Sasikumar's gimlet-eyed exploration of the subject warrants a special mention. Sasi has you in perplexity as to what the genre of the film is going to be. The slow and ambiguous narration also te...(more)

Hard Hitting, worth a watch.

The basic plot of Easan is simple, predictable and even clichéd but it is that presentation and performances of all characters big and small that makes the film watchable. All the lead characters are basically newcomers, which is the major plus of the film. Ultimately it is Samuthirakani who steals ...(more)

Easan is worth a watch, but......

The first half at any rate, is nothing short of brilliant. The characters are finely drawn, the sequences, courtesy S R Kathir are truly superb, camera-work look like you're right with them, and not watching a screen and James Vasanthan's songs, though not brilliant, don't seriously hamper the proce...(more)

The subject isn't new; the telling of it is.

Believing in Sasikumar.

The story of Easan is built by the characters and there is no hero or heroine or a villain or a comedian. Casting is also a reason for the sincerity of the film. Vaibhav and Abhinaya are as good as always. James Vasanthan has brought in a good dose of western flavor mixed with local music, which is ...(more)

A dark tale with some interesting twists.

It's Samuthirakani all the way: he looks fit and perfect for the role. Vaibhav, Abhinaya are not far behind either. Sasikumar's knack of choosing the perfect star cast is definitely an asset. James Vasanthan's music is one of the biggest highlights of the film. S.R.Kathiir's camerawork is brilliant....(more)
