Bore.

The laugh is on us. The director duo Pushkar-Gayathri and their Va Quarter Cutting operate on the belief that it is a funny movie. In fact, the film falls flat under the strain of its frenetic pace and for the most part, it's a silly comedy with slapstick gags that are hard to appreciate. Music of GV Prakash is ok, while Nirav Shah is in top form. (more)

Quirky quarter.

Though loaded with funny scenes from the beginning, the movie tests our patience thanks to a confusing script. Siva is as usual cool and tries to do justice to the role. Charan is tailor-made while Lekha Washington is an apt pick. Music by G V Prakash Kumar is okay. His background score add more bizarreness to the film. Va-Quarter Cutting is no doubt a bold attempt by Pushkar and Gayathri. But whether it would work or not is the big question here.(more)

Cut and dried - Va, Quarter Cutting.

The premise is interesting and rather new for Tamil film watchers. That's it. Otherwise the screenplay dithers its way to an insipid finale, by which time you get fidgety. This, despite Shiva and Charan being at the forefront of action! Dialogue at certain points sends you into peals of laughter, while in others it sounds too contrived. The team of Pushkar and Gayatri comes a cropper in this comedy attempt, which lacks cohesion. (more)

Va Quarter cutting could have been funnier.

Va Quarter Cutting certainly has its moments of brilliance (due to Shiva's own performance). But there are also moments when it becomes mundane, irritating and loses pace. And it's these moments that prevent it from being a completely enjoyable experience. This film is definitely meant for "mature" audiences! Nirav Shah's camera practically whips through the city making sure that Chennai is as much a character as anyone else. G V Prakash’s songs raise the roof.(more)

'Spirit'ed cutting!

Directors Pushkar and Gayatri should be credited for respecting their audience's intelligence and for delivering a 'different film'. Dialogues augment the fun component. Credible characterization is one of the USP's of Va-QC. Nirav Shah is the major plus for the film and he does it again with his lens. Editor Anthony's deft work with scissors is noteworthy. G V Prakashkumar's music is already well received and is in line with the mood of the film. (more)

Va Quarter Cutting has a typical local flavour.

Shiva is the main highlight of the film; his witty one-liners and comedy timing are a treat to watch. S.P.Charan is also not too far behind! Lekha Washington has done her part well. The rest of the cast is OK. Bringing color to the movie is Nirav Shah. His camera weaves sheer magic, stringing the scenes into a pulsating, throbbing narrative. G.V. Prakash's music is just average. The film drags a bit, especially in the second half! (more)
