NAANAYAM

Critics Review

Thriller with no suspense.

The film is enticing in the beginning, but as the story opens up, there are far too many loopholes in the plot. Prasanna is impressive and carries the show, while Sibiraj is a revelation. The music of James Vasanthan is a major let down. Let us hope that director Sakthi.S.Rajan takes a little more care on his scripts and churns out the perfect thriller in future.(more)

Hollywood plot, desi treatment.

Naanayam begins in a spectacular fashion. Kudos to the director for having chosen a plot not often dealt with in Tamil cinema, and getting a cast that's done justice to it. Prasanna is sweet, savvy, intense and desperate as the situation demands. But it's Sibiraj who makes more of an impact. But Naanayam would have been an even better film if it had actually retained some originality in its basic plot.(more)

Furious, but not fast enough.

Naanayam lacks the verve and raciness associated with such themes – the screenplay is the culprit. Correct casting can make a world of difference to a film. James Vasanthan's score is another aiding aspect of Naanayam. It is obvious that director Shakti Rajan has worked hard to provide a refreshing fare. Surely he could have toiled a little more and got the pace right. The imperceptible CG and DI efforts too warrant mention.(more)

Robs the heart.

Thanks to producer S.P.B.Charan, debutant director Sakthi.K.Rajan has managed to come out with a film that is fresh and filled with interesting twists. Fresh color and apt characterizations make Naanayam engross attention all through. The pace at which the scenes unfold and the good use of technology especially in cinematography and editing make it count. The movie lives up to its title.(more)

Cheers to the entire cast and crew of Naanayam!

Naanayam is an engaging thriller which strikes a chord with those who love foreign films. Prasanna and Sibiraj steal the show throughout in Naanayam! Ramya is refreshing. S.P.Balasubramanyam emotes perfectly. Overall, performances of the entire cast of Naanayam is worthy of mention. Story, dialogues, screenplay and direction by Shakti deserves appreciation. Cinematography by Om Prakash gives the movie the color it needs. Editing by Praveen and Srikanth is slick. Songs by James Vasanthan are average. (more)
