Overcooked stew.

First and foremost, it's got a dead script. Nothing, simply nothing happens in the first half of the film. Written and directed by debutant Saba Iyyapan, the six songs at regular intervals and Shriya Saran's glamour in them is the only thing that wakes you up from your sleep while watching Thoranai,...(more)

Nod good, but not bad either.

Vishal does score is the humour quotient which, even if forced, works a bit. And then there are the stunts which he does supremely well. This is one of the parts where Priyan's camera-work shines. Mass entertainer that misses the bulls eye!!

The chemistry between Vishal and Shriya is totally non-happening. Technically, Thoranai is a decent fare. Priyan’s camera has captured a few good visuals. Music by Mani Sharma is middling. Vishal pursues comedy more seriously this time and succeeds to a certain extent. Slim, svelte and sexy, you get to watch a lot of Shriya Saran! ...(more)

Tangy & tasty masala.

Thoranai is an unpretentious entertainer for those who love mass themes loaded with commercial elements. Thoranai is an 'unadulterated formula film' which has commercial elements packaged at the right mix. Vishal excels not just in stunt sequences but also in comedy. Shriya makes a breezy appearance...(more)

Time pass.

Vishal has played his role with ease. He is good in the dance and stunt sequences. The only saving grace of the movie is Santhanam and Mayilsamy as far as performances is concerned. Thoranai's biggest plus is music by Mani Sharma. His re-recording suits the average cinematography and editing. Fight...(more)
